2025 Feb 4 Terengganu, Malaysia – In a significant step toward advancing environmental research and sustainability, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and CRT have formalized their collaboration through an important milestone paper. This initiative lays the groundwork for a long-term academic and research partnership aimed at driving innovation in carbon management, with a special focus on developing Malaysia’s carbon credit methodologies and standards—especially in the areas of nature-based and blue carbon.
The milestone paper outlines key areas of cooperation, including:

• Joint publications and research grant applications.
• Undergraduate internship opportunities designed to offer practical experience.
• Initiatives and policy development for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and carbon neutrality.
• Additional collaborative activities as mutually agreed upon by both parties.
